A CHARITY ON WHEELS

Our country with a population of 60 million people, counts close to two million people with some kind of a walking disability. Walking-stick, crutch,‘rollator’,walking-chair, wheelchair and electric ‘mobiped’ may offer a certain benefit in many cases, but aren’t necessarily the perfect solution. Cruth and ‘rollator’often don’t sufficiently alleviate the user’s joints of sup-Porting one’s own body weight, whereas on the other hand, wheelchair or ‘mobiped may be a bridge to far. In short: good advice didn’t come cheap. Especially for those possessing a good physical balance, and who could even ride a bicycle,Suitable devices were, until recently, not available in or beyond the existing range of walking aids. Fortunately, now, the Rolling Dutchman is on the market.

The Rolling Dutchman, a walking aid – or walk-cycle – on two wheels, is an evolutionary development of the many walking aids and cycles which were born over the past centuries as of Leonardo da Vinci. Because of its technology [rotating front- and rearwheels by way of the saddle] the RD revolves easily and can therefore be used everywhere; at home, manoeuvring round tables and chairs, as well as in the work place, be it office, studio or warehouse. The RD is also particularly suitable for going on walks, visiting shops, exhibitions or museums. Moreover, an experienced Roller is fast and easily reaches 5-8 mils per hour.

WHY USE A ROLLING DUTCHMAN

All enthusiastic users cherish the same ideal, i.e. to remain independent as much and as long as possible, in order to avert the undesirable risk of social isolation. After all, freedom of movement is imperative for acquiring or maintaining one’s personal independence. The RD provides the opportunity to exploit one’s vitality, whilst the active sit-walk movement exercises the legs and back muscles, without too much strain on the joints. In actual fact, the RD carries 70% to 80% of one’s body weight, which also result in a significant Increase of the radius within which one can be operational.

WHO ARE THE ‘ROLLERS’?

The ‘Rollers’are a varied group of people between the age of 8 and 80, who suffer from ailments which force them to either temporarily or permanently, refrain from overstraining their legs, such as: Joint complaints of the feet, knees or hips [ e.g. rheumatism, arthrosis, displaced hip, general deterioration by old age], respiratory difficulties [lung emphysema, asthma], heart disease [decompensatio cordis], osteoporosis, Bechterev, bulimia, gonarthrose, venethrombosis, musculair rheumatism, postpolioscoliosis, radiation sickness caused by ca.treatments, sportinjuries and other kinds of traumata.

The RD can go everywhere. It’s a legimate walking-aid which is welcome on busses, trains, trams, airplanes and boats.
